On the first day of Spring (March 21st), seven Korean artists are performing at the 2012 Canadian Music Fest, Canada’s largest new music festival. They will perform as part of the first 2K12 Korea Night, which will also be the biggest Korean concert Canada has ever seen, and it is the first Korean showcase at the CMF.
2K12 Korea Night will have 2 special showcases: K-Pop Wave X SeoulSonic. K-Pop Wave features G.Na, Teen Top, Apink and Brian Joo, while SeoulSonic will feature Korean indie bands Crying Nut, 3rd Line Butterfly and Yellow Monsters.
In total, more than 900 artists from 40 countries will perform on the CMF.
The Korean artists are set to perform in Kool Haus. This is part of The Guvernment, a nightclub complex in Toronto that was voted the 8th best night club in the world by DJMag in 2008. Kool Haus is often used for concerts and live performances. Many American artists like Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Black Eyed Peas, Paramore, Nas, Pink and Ke$ha have already performed there.

Canadian Music Fest is part of Canadian Music Week, an industry conference and music festival which is held over four days in various venues in Toronto. This is the 30th CMW. The Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization sponsor 2K12 Korea Night and it is presented in association with the Korea Foundation for International Culture Exchange (KOFICE).
It is KOFICE's goal to make people more aware and understanding of other countries’ cultures. One way they do this is with projects such as Asia Song Festival, Pattaya International Music Festival and many more of such festivals. This way, Asian countries exchange their cultures and culture industries can cooperate more easily.
With Korean music on display in Canada's biggest music festival, K-Pop has a good chance to become much more popular in Canada. What are your thoughts on this?
